Welcome to LGBTQ History Month!
A time to remember and celebrate the trailblazers who led waves of change in defense of queer life, love, and happiness. As an organization committed to preserving and sharing the history of LGBTQ Iowans, this month holds a particular significance for us. It reminds us of how far we have come as a community, as well as how far we have yet to go.

Join Our Committees
LIAL has four committees to provide more chances for direct participation in steering our activities and priorities. Each committee meets about monthly and the time commitment is up to you!
You can spend an hour each month tuning into committee meetings or get further involved with planning events, archiving materials, coordinating our fundraising efforts, maintaining our library, and more. Interested individuals can join a committee by emailing the committee chair (listed below).
| Fundraising Committee: Aid our fundraising efforts and ensure LIAL’s long-term sustainability by joining our fundraising committee. ann.kreitman@gmail.com Archives Committee: Process archival materials and help in our efforts to bring Iowa’s queer history to every corner of the state! Library Committee: Help document, organize, and expand our lending library collection by and about the queer community.
