Aiden M. Bettine, Executive Director

Aiden is the Executive Director of the LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library based in Iowa City and works as the Community & Student Life Archivist at the University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections & Archives. He is an archivist and historian who researches and teaches local history pertaining to race, gender, and sexuality in Iowa and the Midwest. Aiden holds Master’s degrees in both Library and Information Sciences and Critical Ethnic Studies. He is completing an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Public History and Archival Science at the University of Iowa. His community work prioritizes creating generative spaces for LGBTQ Iowans to learn, share, and research our history. The LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library is where Aiden puts his heart, researching and writing the history-by-letter series.

Ann Kreitman, Associate Director

Ann is a theatre director and writer specializing in lesbian and queer history-telling and mythmaking through performance. She is an MFA Candidate at the University of Iowa. Her portfolio is available at annkreitman.com.

Annie Fitzgerald, Library Coordinator

Annie holds a MLIS with a Graduate Certificate in Book Arts from the University of Iowa. She is focused on information systems and management and wants to use her skills to make the LGBTQ Iowa Archives and Library more accessible. Annie is also an avid craftsperson and wants to hear about your favorite podcast.

Madde Hoberg, Archives Coordinator

Madde is the Libraries Annex Associate at the University of Iowa. She has undergraduate degrees in English and Gender, Women’s, & Sexuality Studies from the University of Iowa and holds a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison iSchool. An all-around nerd, Madde is ready to discuss video games, board games, horror movies, and the Great British Bake Off with anyone who will listen.

Ash is an IT Support Consultant for the Institute of Clinical and Translational Science in the Biomedical Informatics Core at the University of Iowa. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games, tabletop games, and puzzles, reading comics, and researching niche romhacks of retro video games.
