Aiden M. Bettine, Founder and Director
Aiden is the founder of the LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library. Professionally, he is the Curator of the Tretter Collection in GLBT Studies at the University of Minnesota Libraries. Aiden holds Master’s degrees in both Library and Information Sciences and Critical Ethnic Studies. He is completing an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Public History and Archival Science at the University of Iowa. His community work prioritizes creating generative spaces for LGBTQ people to learn, share, and research our history.
Ann Kreitman, Fundraising Coordinator
Ann joined the LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library as the first volunteer(!) in November 2020. With butch charm, public speaking skills, and passion for lesbian history, she quickly became LIAL’s Associate Director. Since graduating from the University of Iowa in 2023 with an MFA in Theatre Arts, Ann has moved to New York City to pursue a career utilizing theatre to share queer history. Ann has stepped down from her position as Associate Director but continues to support LIAL through fundraising efforts and evangelizing about Midwestern queer community.
Diane Ray, Archives Coordinator
Diane is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa, where they received a masters in Library Science, with a certificate in book arts from the Center for the Book. During their time at the university, they also worked at the Special Collections/Archives, and in the conservation department. Diane is especially interested in local history and book preservation, and currently works at the Beloit Historical Society as a processing archivist. In their free time, they enjoy making wood block prints, gardening, and hiking.
Sarah Dodd, Library Coordinator
Sean Finn, Operations Manager
Sean has volunteered with LIAL since September 2021 and now manages operations, ensuring all bills get paid and meetings run smoothly. He works as a policy analyst for Common Good Iowa, serves as a board member for the Wesley Center, and assists as an alumni advisor for Delta Lambda Phi. While Sean’s academic background is in statistics and economics, he enjoys spending his free time cooking, consuming science fiction, playing in Iowa City’s queer softball league, and appreciating trees.
Zach Morris, Outreach & Programming Coordinator
Zach is the Outreach Coordinator for the LGBTQ Iowa Archives and Library. They use any pronouns. When they’re not volunteering at LIAL they love to hang out with their friends, play and replay their favorite pokemon games, and read science fiction and fantasy books. They want to try getting into more art mediums like collages and different forms of fiber arts.
