Aiden M. Bettine, Director

Aiden is an archivist and historian who researches and teaches local history pertaining to race, gender, and sexuality in Iowa and the Midwest. He also runs the Transgender Oral History Project of Iowa. Aiden holds a Master’s degree in both Library and Information Sciences and Critical Ethnic Studies. He is completing a Ph.D. in History at the University of Iowa and serves as the Community & Student Life Archivist at the University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections & University Archives. The LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library is where Aiden’s puts his heart, researching and writing the monthly history-by-letter series.

India is an Iowa-City based artist who makes sculptures, installations, and participatory projects in and about libraries. She attended fine binding school at the LLOTJA and holds an MFA from the University of Iowa Center for the Book.

Lindsay Kistler Mattock, Webmaster

Lindsay is an assistant professor in the School of Library and Information Science. She completed her doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences and holds a MLIS with a concentration in Archives, Preservation and Records Management and a BA in Film Studies. Her professional experience as a video-technician and training in filmmaking and photography have shaped her academic interest in the preservation of visual media and visual culture. Mattock has taught in the areas of digital preservation, preservation management, archival representation, and moving image archives. Her recent research connects these areas of interest, investigating the development of archival practices developed within non-profit media organizations, including media arts centers and media collectives.
